Mr. Ricky Farrell Cooper, age 59, of 40752 Mountain Creek Road, New London, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 19th, 2010 at his home. His family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home and his funeral will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, December 21st, 2010 at Sweet Home Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Bowers and Rev. Ray Long will officiate and burial will be in the Sweet Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born December 7th, 1951 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Cooper was the son of the late Julius Jethro and Cora Huneycutt Cooper. He was educated at North Stanly High School and was later an equipment operator for Vulcan Materials. He was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church, a former member of the Piedmont Bass Club, and a charter member of the Dixie Youth Baseball League. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hopkins Cooper; one son, Ricky Jay Cooper and wife Kristen of New London, NC; one daughter, Jennifer Rebecca Cooper of New London, NC; two sisters, Lois Cooper Harwood of Richfield, NC and Mary Ellen Cooper Ridenhour and husband Mack of Richfield, NC; and four grandchildren: Zachary, K.J., Cameron, and Kyla. One brother, Robert Ansel Cooper, preceded him in death.
