Richard William Griffin, age 83, of 17062 Randall's Ferry Road, Norwood, NC, passed away on Saturday, April 16th, 2011 at Stanly Manor Nursing Center. His funeral will be at 3 PM on Wednesday, April 20th, 2011 at West Albemarle Baptist Church and his family will receive friends following the service. Rev. Adam Hatley will officiate.

Born December 25th, 1927 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Griffin was the son of the late William H. and Edna Smoot Morris Griffin and was the District Manager for Pilot Life Insurance Company. He was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church and a veteran of hte US Navy serving during WWII.

He is survived by one son, Scott Griffin of Mt. Holly, NC; one daughter, Susie G. Kinninmonth of Isfield, East Sussex, United Kingdom; one brother, Bill Griffin of Pittsboro, NC; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Wood Griffin and Henry Griffin, and two sisters, Hazel Scarboro and Sue Crole Griffin.
