Mr. Dewey Kenneth "Red" Earnhardt, age 78, of 28509 Misenheimer Road, Richfield, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 12th, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. His family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday evening and his funeral will be at 2 PM on Friday, July 15th, 2011 at Richfield Baptist Church. Rev. Harold McDonald and Rev. Dale Collingwood will officiate and burial will be in the Richfield Cemetery with full military rites by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.
Born October 1st, 1932 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Earnhardt was the son of the late Roy Lee Earnhardt and Estelle Watson Earnhardt. He was educated at Richfield School and Pfeiffer College, a former Masonry Contractor, and former employee of Norandal in Salisbury, NC. He was a member of Richfield Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict serving aboard the USS Valley Forge. He loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and traveling to see their activities. He also enjoyed working outside and helping others. In addition, he was very active in his church.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Caudle Earnhardt; two sons, Tommy Earnhardt and wife Amy of Norwood, NC and David Earnhardt and wife Jenny of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Cheryl E. Turner and husband Greg of Richfield, NC; and seven grandchildren: Jacob, Adam, Halle, Rachel, Sophia, Sydney, and Lucy.
