Raymond Lee Talbert, 86, of 1736 Holly Avenue, Albemarle, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 24th at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center in Albemarle.  His family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home on Friday, August 27th from 6 PM to 8 PM and his funeral will be on Saturday, August 28th, 2010 at 11 AM at West Albemarle Baptist Church.  The Reverends Adam Hatley, Brent Pope, and Nathan Fox will officiate with burial following in Stanly Gardens of Memory.

Born on December 27th, 1923, he was the son of the late John Shelton Talbert and Rosanna Dick Talbert.  He was retired from the US Postal Service and a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific during World War II.  Mr. Talbert was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Men's group.  He had also been a member of the Albemarle Civitan Club.

He was married to Jewell Coble Talbert who preceded him in death.  He is survived by two daughters: Sheri English and husband Bret of Camdenton, Missouri, and Joan Collins and husband Tim of Daphne, Alabama; three grandchildren: Andrea McCormack of Greensboro, NC, Jon English of Sanford, NC, and Lee Rummage of Mauldin, SC; and five great-grandsons.
