Raymond Claude Almond, age 79, of 42025 Gurley Road, New London, NC, passed away on Sunday, March 20th, 2011 at Bethany Woods Nursing Home in Albemarle, NC.  His family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM on Monday evening at Stanly Funeral Home and his graveside funeral will be at 4 PM on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 in the Palestine Cemetery.  Rev. David Nolan will officiate.

Born January 30th, 1932 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Almond was the son of the late Claude Jethro Almond and Viola Ribelin Almond and was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills.  He was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Blalock Almond.  He is survived by one daughter, Darlene Almond McCabe and husband Bob of New London, NC; one aunt, Daisy Ribelin of Albemarle, NC; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
