Rachel Daphine Lowder Plyler, 87, of 24724 US Hwy. 25 South, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2009 at the Lutheran Home. Her funeral will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel. Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the funeral service. Rev. Randy Powell and Rev. David Rorie will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Born July 15, 1922 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John and Sallie Harris Lowder and was a retired textile employee with Cassie Cotillion. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she was very active in the Homebound Tape Ministry as well as the Senior Center. She was also an active researcher of Plyler, Harris, and Lowder Genealogy. She delivered meals-on-wheels and loved visiting her friends.
She was married to the late Herbert Rosselle Plyler for 52 years. Survivors include two sons: Larry M. Plyler and wife, Amy, of Greensboro and Gregory R. Plyler of Albemarle.
