Mr. Thurman Lee "Pete" Chandler, age 86, of 37621 US Hwy 52 North, New London, NC, passed away on Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 at his home.  His Graveside Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Thursday, December 9th, 2010 in the Stanly Gardens of Memory and his family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at Stanly Funeral Home just prior to the hour of the service.  Pastor Bob Gruver will officiate.

Mr. Chandler was the son of the late Norman Bennett and Tero Elliott Chandler and was a former employee of Dewey D. Treece.  He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the US Army WWII.  

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sides Chandler; two sons, James Bennett "Butch" Chandler of Misenheimer, NC and David Allen Chandler and wife Juanita Billings of Albemarle, NC; two daughters, Drinda C. Hathcock and husband C.W. "Dink" of Albemarle, NC and Susan C. Hathcock and husband Billy of Albemarle, NC; one brother, Benny Chandler of Denton, NC; one sister, Claudine C. Carter of Albemarle; three grandchildren: Amy Couch and husband Chris, Aaron Chandler and fiance Ashlyn, and Josh Chandler; and a special pet Chihuahua, P.J.  Preceding him in death were three sisters: Beatrice Lowe, Lula Britt, and Infant Lizzie Jane Chandler.
