Myra Morrison, 99, went to be with the Lord on September 24th, 2009. She was born in Oneonta, NY on July 15th, 1910. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Ethel Shumway, and was predeceased by her husband, Otho, and an infant daughter.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Morrison (Linda) of Albemarle and Bruce Morrison (Mary) of Vestal, NY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Lisa Bowman and Jayne Nunn of Stanfield, NC; Steve Morrison of Cary, NY; Bruce Morrison, Jr. of Burlington, VT; Cheryl Arons of Montgomery, NY; Sharon Foster of Apex, NC; Billy Morrison and Amy Morrison of Vestal, NY. She had fourteen great-grandchildren and is also survived by one sister, Elvira Nickels of Owego, NY.
Myra and her late husband were devoted to their family, church, and community. They loved to travel and Myra had visited 49 states and several countries. Myra never knew a stranger, loved everyone, and truly enjoyed her life.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, September 26th, 2009 at Tioga Cemetery in Owego, NY at 2 PM. A memorial service will be Saturday, October 3rd, 2009, at 2 PM at Love’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Stanfield, NC. The Reverend Luci Blizzard will be officiating.
