George Wilson Medlin, 77, of 29325-A Bethlehem Church Road, Norwood, NC, passed away on Friday, April 17th, 2009 at his home. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM and his funeral will be at 2 PM on Monday, April 20th, 2009 at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Paul Pickler will officiate and burial will be in Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites by the Stanly County DAV Team.
Born October 21, 1931 in Union County, NC, Mr. Meldin was the son of the late Fairley Medlin and Mamie Brantly Medlin. He was a retired Brick Mason with McSwain Construction and a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Evelyn Taylor Medlin. Other survivors include two sons, Alvin Medlin of Albemarle and Wilson Medlin of Norwood; one daughter, Carol Medlin Blalock of Norwood; one step-daughter, Evelyn Kay Burris of Stanfield; one sister, Jessie Mae Simpson of Rockwell; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A step-daughter, Rachel Andrews, preceded him in death.
