Mary Whitley Walls, age 79, of 807 Moss Springs Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Friday, February 25th, 2011 at her home.  Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and her funeral will be Monday, February 28th, 2011 at Porter United Methodist Church in Norwood, NC.  Rev. Gene Moore will officiate and burial will be in Union Chapel United Methodist Church's Cemetery. 

Born December 27th, 1931 in Stanly County, Mrs. Walls was the daughter of the late George and Georgie Lowder Whitley and was a local finance officer.  She was a member of Porter United Methodist Church and loved working the voter polls after retirement.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Carl Frederick Walls, Sr.; her daughter, Denise Walls; and grandson, Michael Walls.  She is survived by two sons, Carl F. Walls, Jr. and wife Helen of Hickory, NC and John E. Walls and wife Margaret of Rockwell, NC; two daughters, Carolyn W. Laudati and husband Bill of Weddington, NC and Sandra L. Efird of Endy, NC; two sisters, Nancy Whiteside of Norwood, NC and Margaret MacDougall of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
