Martha Griffith Sanderson, 76, of 615 East Oakwood Avenue, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Sunday, December 13th, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Her funeral will be at 11 AM Wednesday, December 16th, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 10 AM until 10:40 AM just prior to the hour of service. At other times, the family will be at the home of her brother, John C. "Bud" Griffith: 608 Fernwood Drive, Albemarle, NC. Rev. David Alexander will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park.
Born March 8th, 1933 in Stanly County, Mrs. Sanderson was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ardis Casper Griffith and was educated at Albemarle High School. She was an employee at Belk's Department Store for a number of years and a member of Second Street Presbyterian Church.
She was married to the late R. Perry Sanderson. She is survied by two sons: David P. Sanderson and wife Stephanie of Okemos, Michigan, and John A. Sanderson and wife Lynda of Albemarle; one daughter: Susan Elliot and husband Mitchell of Locust, NC; one brother: John C. "Bud" Griffith and wife Suzanne of Albemarle; four grandchildren: Bethany Shoaf, Justin Efird, Vann Elliott, and Samuel Sanderson; and five great-grandchildren.
