Marie Poplin Huneycutt, age 86, of 33426 Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, NC (formerly of Badin, NC), passed away on Sunday, June 12th, 2011, and Bethany Woods Nursing Facility in Albemarle, NC.  Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and her funeral will be at 4 PM on Tuesday, June 14th, 2011 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel.  Dr. Darrell Huneycutt will officiate and burial will be in Mt. View Baptist Church's Cemetery. 

Born December 7th, 1924 in Stanly County, Mrs. Huneycutt was the daughter of the late Willie B. Poplin and Pearl Mabry Poplin, and step-daughter of Onnie Mae Poplin Simpson of Norwood, NC.  She was  homemaker, member of Mt. View Baptist Church, and loved flowers and gardening. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer J. Huneycutt, and one brother, Max Poplin.  She is survived by one son, Roger Dale Huneycutt and wife Jane of Richfield, NC; three daughters: Pat Hatley and husband Larry of Albemarle, NC, Jo Culp and husband Pete of Badin, NC, and Kathy H. Almond and husband John of New London, NC; three brothers: Bryce Poplin of Norwood, NC, John Poplin of Norwood, NC, and Ray Poplin of Norwood, NC; one half-brother, Rodney Poplin of Norwood, NC; one sister, Faye Pope of Norwood, NC; one half-sister, Diane Howell of Durham, NC; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.  A very special thanks to her grandson, Jeremy Almond, for the love and care given to his grandmother.
