Mamie Kathleen Hough Smith, 77, of 411 South 4th Street, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 6th, 2009, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Her funeral will be at 2 PM on Friday, October 9th, 2009 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Albemarle, NC. Her family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church just prior to the service. Rev. Joe Smith will officiate and burial will be in Anderson Grove Baptist Church’s Cemetery.
Born March 21st, 1932 in Cabarrus County, NC, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late W.B. and Lizzie Honeycutt Hough and was a former employee of E.J. Snyder & Co. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she was a choir member, member of the WMU, and a Sunday School teacher. She was married to the late Roy Lee Smith. Survivors include one step-daughter: Josephine Lambert of Albemarle; one sister: Mary Lee Williams of Concord, NC; one nephew: Tommy Williams; two nieces: Kay Gray and Alva Cauthen; and good friend: Jessie Coggins.
