Mae Rose Burris Almond Jolly, 85, of 37451 Melton Road, Albemarle, passed away Saturday, August 1^st, 2009 at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle, NC. The family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM. Her funeral will be at 11 AM Wednesday, August 5^th, 2009 at Mt. View Baptist Church in Albemarle, NC. Rev. Jimmy Caines will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. At other hours the family will be at the home of Renae Tucker, 38955 Tower Road, Albemarle, NC. 

She was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Rosa Burgess Burris. She was the first Stanly County Female Rural Mail Carrier and former employee of American Efird Mill Company. She was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher, former Choir Member, and former Church Treasurer. She was married first to the late Johnny Alton Almond and second to the late Leonard Jolly. She is survived by one step-daughter, Tonya Jolly of Norwood, NC; four grandchildren: Renae Almond Tucker, Wendy Almond, Regina Culley, and Brian Smith, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Garrett Almond; three brothers: Grady “Bud” Burris, Craven Burris, and Clifford Burris; two sisters: Daisy Smith and Gennelle Thompson; and one grandson: Johnny Brian Almond.
