Mabel S. Jones, 78, of Oakboro, NC, passed away on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord, NC. Her funeral will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 at Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 PM just prior to the hour of service. Rev. Larry Perry will officiate and burial will be at 3 PM Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 at the McMillian Cemetery in Fancy Gap, VA.

Born October 4th, 1931 in Carroll County, VA, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Sidney Alfred and Flora McMilian Sawyers and was retired from Corning Glass of Paden City, WV. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Oakboro, NC.

Mrs. Jones was married to the late Charles B. Jones. Survivors include three sons: Moir L. Jones of Albemarle, Roger D. Jones of Oakboro, and Charles L. Jones of Albemarle; one sister: Dorothy Coone of Mooresville, NC; six grandchildren: Ryan Jones, Jenny Jones McDonald, Justin Jones, Natasha Jones, Cameron Jones, and Courtney Jones; and four great-grandchildren: Casey Jones, Winter Baucom, Olivia McDonald, and Victoria McDonald.
