Dr. Laura "Cookie" Grace Smith, age 36, of 5611 Cold Springs Road, Charlotte, NC, passed away on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.  Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 PM til 8 PM and her funeral will be at 10 AM on Saturday, July 10th, 2010 at Anderson Grove Baptist Church in Albemarle, NC.  Rev. Ron Honeycutt, Rev. Michael Cummings, and Dr. Mark Harris will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. 

Born September 16th, 1973 in Newark, NJ, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Dr. Edmond Grace and Nadia Morgan Grace of Luxor Egypt.  she was educated at the University of Cairo and the University of Cairo Medical School in Cairo Egypt.  She was a former paramedic in Gaston County when her health permitted and a strong Christian.  She also was a member of the Buddy Kemp Cancer Survivors Support Group and the CMPD Wives Police Officer Suport Group in Charlotte, NC. 

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Brian Joseph Smith; two brothers, Paul Grace of Charlotte, NC and Eddie Grace of Seminole, FL; one sister, Ann Brown and husband Greg of Denver, Colorado; one Uncle, Dr. Edward Grace; and one Aunt, Evon Morgan.
