Larry Wayne Petrea, 60, of 1410 Stoker Terrace, Albemarle, NC, passed away on December 21st, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. His funeral will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 23rd, at Stanly Funeral Home. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 til 1:45, just prior to the hour of service. At other times the family will be at the home of his daughter, Stephanie P. Lowder, 37430 Barnhardt Road, Albemarle, NC. Rev. Grady Blakely, Rev. Larry Beaver, Rev. Otis Goins, and Rev. Dan Abernathy will officiate and burial will be in Centerview Baptist Church's Cemetery.

Born in 1949 in Stanly County, Mr. Petrea was the son of Della Furr Petrea of Locust, NC and the late David A. Petrea. He was a member and the Minister of Music at Badin Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. He was the former music director of three different churches and the former Pastor of North Stanly Baptist Church and Valleyview Baptist Church in Pekin.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Kay) Goins Petrea; one daughter, Stephanie P. Lowder and husband, Chad, of Albemarle; one brother, Carl A. Petrea of Locust; two sisters: Shirley P. Baucom of Stanfield, and Sylvia P. Downer of Stanfield; and two grandchildren: Logan and Gideon Lowder.
