Larry Wayne Hatley, 63, of 1515 Old Charlotte Road, entered into the arms of his Daddy and his Heavenly Daddy at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at  3 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at Friendship United Methodist Church, Hwy. 73, Albemarle. A video presentation of Larry's life will be  shown in  the  Sanctuary 30 minutes prior to the service at 2:30 p.m.

Born Aug. 1, 1946, in Macon, Ga., Mr. Hatley was the son of the late Daniel Wesley and Marie Lowder Hatley. He attended Albemarle High School and North Carolina State University. Larry was a retired Senior Systems Analyst with Philip Morris, USA and worked at facilities in Richmond, Va., and Concord, N.C. Larry was a past volunteer for Hospice, United Way of Central Carolinas and a Junior Achievement Instructor.

In 2008, he was awarded  a lifetime membership in Albemarle Masonic Lodge #703. Larry was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and  served as a youth counselor, Sunday School teacher, Administrative Board member, certified Lay Speaker, as well as many other offices in the church.

In 1999 he was awarded the Sally C. Stoker Award for his great courage, personal faith, inspiration and perseverance. After retirement his passion was rebuilding computers, assisting churches and visiting with individuals while teaching and sharing his love of computers with others.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Doris Allred Hatley, a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Ernie McSwain of New London and son Jason Hatley; four granddaughters, Meagan Rose  McSwain, Madison Hope McSwain, Olivia  Grace Hatley, Marylee Elizabeth Hatley and their mother, Michelle Hay-wood, and a brother, Gerald Bruce Hatley of Dunn, N.C.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the Clint Culp family for the selfless gift of life to Larry in 2000.

Receiving of friends will be at the Hatley residence on Old Charlotte Road and following the Memorial Service in the fellowship hall.
