Captain Kerry Lewis Hathcock, age 44, of 10219 B NC Hwy 138, Oakboro, NC, passed away on thursday, July 15th, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC.  His family will receive friends Saturday evening at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 PM to 8 PM and his funeral will be at 4 PM on Sunday, July 18th, 2010 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel.  Rev. Mark Little will officiate and burial will be in Oakboro Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by the US Air Force. 

Born November 5th, 1965  in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Hathcock was a graduate of Stanly Community College and Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, NC.  He was a registered Critical Care Nurse with CMC-NorthEast Mobile Intensive Care Unit and Part-Time Nurse in the Emergecy Department at Stanly Regional Medical Center.  He was also a former employee of Stanly County EMS  as an EMT Paramedic.  He was of the Baptist faith, a Veteran of the US Air Force and US Army, active member of the NC Air National Guard with the rank of Captain, served three months in Iraq, served twice in Washington, DC in the 156 Aeromed Evacuation Squad as a flight nurse.  He received several recognitions such as the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "1" M Device and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

He is survived by his parents, Curtis Eugene and Edith Lambert Hathock of Oakboro, NC; his wife, Marla Mayberry Hathcock; two sons: Kevin Hathock and Kane Hathcock of Stanfield, NC; step-daughter, Natalee Worley of the home; and one sister, Kathy Clontz and husband Dale of Fairview, NC.
