Kenneth Donald Holshouser, 85, of 24243 US Hwy 52 South, Richfield, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 9th, 2009 at his home. His funeral will be at 11 AM on July 13th at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the hour of the service. Rev. Catherine N. Davis will officiate and burial will be in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Cemetery will full military graveside rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.
Born March 8, 1924 in Rowan County, NC, he was the son of the late Luther Alexander and Sallie Raney Holshouser. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools, Undergraduate of Catawba College, and attended UNC Chapel Hill Post Graduate. He was a retired employee of Pfeiffer University with 37 years of service. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a charter and life member of the Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post #342 in Salisbury, and a veteran of the US Army Signal Corp during WWII having served two years in the European Theater.
He was married to the late Martha Wagner Holshouser. He is survived by one brother, Dwight Holshouser and wife Edith of Greensboro, NC and one sister, Katie H. Morgan and husband Robert of Salisbury, NC. Also surviving are a number of niece and nephews, neighbor and special friends Katrina and George Sells, long time friend and caregiver Patricia Long and caregivers Judy and Martha.
