Mr. Kemp Thompson, age 80, of 39075 Kemp road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Friday, December 31st, 2010 at his home.  His family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and his funeral will be at 2 PM on Sunday, January 2nd, 2011 at Palestine United Methodist Church.  Rev. David Noland and Rev. Rick Hildebran will officiate and burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. 

Born March 26th, 1930 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Collie Deberry and Ulla Morton Thompson and was a retired employee of Celenese and owner of Palestine Auction House.  He was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church, an avid gardener, clock and lamp collector, and loved to go to yard-sales.  He was a Veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda C. Thompson; four sons: Trent Thompson and friend Nancy Clark of Albemarle, NC, Darrell Thompson and wife Tammy of Albemarle, NC, Ron Thompson and wife Liz of Albemarle, NC, and Robby Thompson and wife Jean of Albemarle, NC; two daughters, Pamela C. Padgett and husband Ron of Murrells Inlet, SC and Sherri J. Harwood and husband Jeff of Albemarle, NC; one brother, Paul D. Thompson of Albemarle, NC; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Lee Thompson and Keith Thompson, and one sister, Eva Jane Thompson.
