Mrs. Josephine Cranford Misenheimer, age 86, of Richfield, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 9th, 2010 at Stanly Regional Center in Albemarle, NC. Her family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home and her funeral will be on Tuesday, October 12th at 3 PM at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Richfield, NC. Rev. Ruth Ann Sipe will officiate and burial will be in Richfield Cemetery in Richfield, NC. At other times the family will be meeting at the home of her grandson, Johnathan Misenheimer; 42615 Caudle Road, Richfield, NC.
Born February 12th, 1924 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Dellie Canupp Cranford and was a graduate of Richfield High School. She was a retired employee with the Stanly County Schools and a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church where she was a member of various committees. She loved to walk. After she retired she hiked the Grand Canyon at the age of 66. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking. She was a volunteer with the Cancer Society and was a fan of Tarheel Basketball. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Julian Misenheimer, Jr.; five brothers: William Cranford, Alvin Cranford, Reece Cranford, Vance Samuel Cranford, and Adam Luther Cranford; and two sisters, Marie Cranford Harwood and Jacqueline Cranford Canfield. She is survived by two sons, Grady B. "Berkie" Misenheimer and wife Brenda of Richfield, NC and Walter Rex Misenheimer and wife Pam of Lawrenceville, GA; one brother, Fletcher F. Cranford of Kannapolis, NC; six grandchildren: Jonathan B. Misenheimer and wife Renee of Richfield, NC, Heather R. Misenheimer of Richfield, NC, Andrew J. Misenheimer of Lawrenceville, GA, Justin M. Misenheimer of Lawrenceville, GA, Matthew T. Misenheimer of Lawrenceville, GA, and Samuel J. Misenheimer of Lawrenceville, GA; and two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Zachary Misenheimer.
