Mr. Joseph David Plowman, age 77, of 1266 NC Why 109 South, Mt. Gilead, NC  27306, passed away on Monday, August 1st, 2011 at his home.  His Service of Remembrance will be at 7 PM on Monday, August 8th, 2011 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and his family will receive friends from 6 PM to 7 PM just prior to the hour of service.  Rev. Brent Pope will officiate.  

Born January 8th, 1934 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Plowman was the son of the late Willis and Nellie Morton Plowman and was a Graduate of NC State University.  He was a Land Surveyor and member of West Albemarle Baptist Church. 

Along with his parents, Mr. Plowman was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis Bruce Plowman and Lonnie Plowman, and one sister, Agnes Merriette Plowman.  He is survived by two sons, Joseph Clark Plowman and wife Kathy of Cheyenne, WY and Michael Sean Plowman and wife Mary Jane of Apex, NC; one brother, Joel Plowman of Salisbury, NC; one sister, Miriam Ferrell of Norwood, NC; and nine grandchildren.
