John Kingsley Stoots, age 82, of 32108 Austin Road, New London, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 29th, 2011 at his home.  His funeral will be at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 1st, 2011 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and Rev. Harold McDonald will officiate.

Born April 11th, 1929 in Helen, GA, and reared in Damascus, VA, Mr. Stoots was the son of the late John and Eula Price Stoots and was a graduate of Mars Hill College and UNC Chapel Hill.  He was the Director of Pharmacy at Stanly Memorial Hospital  and Stanly Regional Medical Center with 47 years of service.  He was also a member of Kendalls Baptist Church and a Veteran of the US Army - Korean Conflict. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Farmer Stoots; his second wife, Mary Morton Stoots; and four siblings.  He is survived by two daughters, Jane Burris Clayton and husband Douglas of Albemarle, NC and Brenda Burris Huneycutt and husband Jody of Albemarle, NC; two grandchildren, Lisa Clayton of Albemarle, NC and Shawn Huneycutt of Belmont, NC; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
