John Cliffton Burleson, age 85, passed away on Friday, November 12th, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC.  There will be no formal visitation or funeral service. 

Born April 17th, 1925 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Burleson was the son of the late Hobert and Minnie Bowers Burleson.  He was a retired Paining Contractor and a member of Kendall's United Methodist Church.  He was a Veteran of the US Navy during WWII and was stationed at Atia, Alaska.  He was an avid fisherman, loved traveling to Oak Island, NC, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Ramelle Lefler Burleson; two sons, Wayne Burleson of Albemarle, NC and Jerry Burleson of Albemarle, NC; one daughter, Patricia B. Leonard of Badin, NC; two sisters, Evelyn Thompson and Ruth McDaniel both of Albemarle, NC; five grandchildren: Hillary Whitley, Chad Leonard, Holly Cataldo, Baxter Burleson, and Benjamin Burleson; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Cataldo and Sara Burleson.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Garrett Burleson and Raymond Burleson.
