Joe Almond, 89, of 2500 Badin Road, Albemarle, NC passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Spring Arbor of Albemarle. His family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home on Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. At other hours the family will be at Spring Arbor or Larry Joe Almond's residence at 2500 Badin Road, Albemarle. His funeral will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Anderson Grove Baptist Church in Albemarle. Rev. Ron Honeycutt will officiate and burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
Born December 13th, 1919 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Almond was the son of the late Jerome and Ellen Smith Almond and was a retired employee of ALCOA. He was a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Zula Mills Almond; one son, Larry Joe Almond of Albemarle, NC; two daughters, Javaughn Fisher and husband Butch of Clover, SC, and Beverly Almond Allen and husband Thomas of Henderson, NC; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
