Jewel Elizabeth Shaw Wood, age 82, of 717 Bost Street, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Friday, March 4th, 2011 at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC.  Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 PM to 8 PM on Sunday, March 6th, 2011 and her grave-side funeral will be at 1 PM on Monday, March 7th, 2011 at Stanly Gardens of Memory.  Rev. Wayne Richardson and Rev. Joe Smith will officiate.

Born August 18th, 1928 in Lexington, NC, Ms. Wood was the daughter of the late Walter Shaw and Elva Lanning Shaw.  She was a retired employee of E.J. Snyder and Co. and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Ms. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, James Bill Wood, and a son, Danny Thomas Wood.  She is survived by three grandchildren: Dana Stowe, Amy Deal, and Alyson Wood; and five great-grandchildren: Trey Stowe, Travis Stowe, Corey Stowe, Jacob Gillem, and Elizabeth Gillem.
