Jean Russell Hearne Whitley, 79, of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 26th, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Her Memorial Service will be at 2 PM on Thursday, December 31st in the First Street United Methodist Church in Albemarle, NC and the family will recieve friends one hour prior to the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall. Rev. Virginia Herron will officiate.
Born January 3rd, 1930 in Albemarle, NC, Mrs. Whitley was the daughter of the late James K. and Maggie Lowder Russell and was a 1947 graduate of Albemarle High School. She was a retired employee of the Stanly News & Press and a member of First Street United Methodist Church. She was married first to Edward E. Hearne, Sr. who survives and 2nd to Ezekiel Whitley who preceded her in death. Oher survivors include three sons: Edward Eugene Hearne, Jr., John Hearne, and David Hearne all of Albemarle; one daughter: Teresa Ann Hearne Toler Miller of Livinston, TX.; one sister: Rhoda Russell Calloway of Statesville, NC; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece; and four nephews. Four brothers: Bernard, Bryce, Max, and James and one sister: Helen Russell Mullinix Hightower preceded her in death.
