Mr. Jay Van Furr, age 69, of 28512 Canton Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Tuesday, June 21st, 2011 at his home.  His family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and his graveside funeral will be at 4 PM on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011 in the Canton Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle, NC.  Rev. Mark Mabry will officiate. 

Born November 19th, 1941 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Furr was the son of the late Paul S. and Fannie Moyle Furr.  He was a retired employee of American Fiber and Finishing.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Howell Furr; two sons, Michael V. Furr and wife Tamara of Norwood, NC and Dustin T. Furr of Norwood, NC; two brothers, Cecil James Furr of Albemarle, NC and Donnie Dewey Furr of Albemarle, NC; two sisters, Louise Holt of Albemarle, NC and Peggy Holt of Albemarle, NC; and five grandchildren: Madison Furr, Michael Furr, Robert Furr, Eli Furr, and Skylar Furr.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Furr and Doyle Furr; and two sisters, Bernice Thompson and Dot Hopkins.
