Imogene "Jean" Ramelle Hopkins Stokes, 81, of 36116 Old Salisbury Road, New London, NC passed away on Sunday, May 3rd, 2009.  Her funeral will be at 11 AM on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Albemarle Wesleyan Church.  Her family will receive friends at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the 11 AM service.  Rev. Doug Beadle will officiate and burial will be in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born November 12, 1927 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Wincie Hinson Hopkins.  She formerly worked with food service at Britthaven of Piedmont, a member of Albemarle Wesleyan Church, and a member of the Good Neighbor Group at Richfield Baptist Church.  She was married to the late Joe Clarence Stokes.  She is survived by one son, Ron Stokes and wife Peggy of Concord, NC; one daughter, Lisa Dalrymple and husband Jeff of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Nathan Stokes, Lindsay Stokes, Nicole Dalrymple, and Joe Dalrymple; and many nephews and nieces.  Four brothers; Bud Hopkins, Lonnie Hopkins, Floyd Hopkins, and Homer Thomas Hopkins, Jr.; and five sisters; Adele Hathcock, Grace Kimrey, Ethel Efird, Lula Mai Waller, and Mirt Hinson; preceded her in death.
