Hubert Forest McConnell, age 81, of 8168 A Whitley Road, Norwood, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 19th, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC.  His family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and his funeral will be at 3 PM on Sunday, May 22nd, 2011 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.  Rev. Mike Burris, Rev. Melita Padilla, and Rev. David Lowe will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born August 4th, 1929 in Lincoln County, NC, Mr. McConnell was the son of the late Ernest Leonard and Mary Azalee Prim McConnell.  He was a graduate of Kings College, a retired sales representative with Devoe Paint Company in Charlotte, NC, and an employee of Stallings Salvage.  He also was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty Hathcock McConnell; one daughter, Carla McConnell of New London, NC; one brother, Perry Leonard McConnell of Denver, NC; one sister, Marcene M. Freeman of Lincolnton, NC; and one grandchild, Paul Poplin of New London, NC.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Dale McConnell.
