Mrs. Helen Marie Huneycutt Hopkins, 88, of 625 Bethany Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 17th, 2009 at Stanly Manor. Her funeral will be at 8 PM on Monday, October 19th, 2009 at the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 PM to 7:45 PM just prior to the service. Tim Pinkston will officiate and burial will be in Norview Gardens in Norwood, NC at 2 PM on Tuesday.
Born June 6th, 1921 in Stanly County, Mrs. Hopkins was the daughter of the late James Homer Huneycutt and Edda Osborne Huneycutt and was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Co. She was a member of Albemarle Church of Christ.
She was married to the late John Cecil “Mutt” Hopkins. She is survived by two sons: Jerry B. Hopkins and wife Roberta of Albemarle and Clarence E. “Buck” Hopkins and wife Pam of Mt. Pleasant, NC; one brother, Herbert Huneycutt of Stanfield, NC; two sisters: Hilda Smith of Stanfield, NC and Alene Treece of Locust, NC; two grandchildren: Jamie Hopkins and wife Sandra and Cecila Smith and husband Mark of Albemarle; and three great-grandchildren: Justin Smith, Tabitha Smith, and Jared Hopkins.
