Helen Ruth Hauser Almond, age 96, of 5424 Glenhope Court, Cary, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 at Glenaire Health Center in Cary, NC.  Her funeral will be at 3 PM on Saturday, June 4th, 2011 at Canton Baptist Church in Albemarle, NC and her family will receive friends in Canton's Fellowship Hall from 2 PM to 3 PM just prior to the hour of service.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

born January 13th, 1915 in Pinnacle, NC, Mrs. Almond was the daughter of the late Lazarus E. and Alice Spainhour Hauser and attended Appalachian State University.  She was a homemaker, member of Canton Baptist Church, and a long time volunteer of the Dorcas Thrift Shop in Cary, NC. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace David Almond; three brothers: Ira, Marvin, and Herbert; and three sisters: Earsley, Pauline, and Mertie.  She is survived by one son, Giles Almond and wife Anita of Indian Trail, NC; one daughter, Judy Graybeal and husband Robin of Pawleys Island, SC; four grandchildren: David Graybeal, Cassandra Almond, Kevin Almond, and Alice Almond; and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Caroline Graybeal.  Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews including her special niece Mrs. Helen Sprinkle of Winston-Salem, NC, many friends, and Glenaire neighbors.  Special thanks to caregivers and staff at Glenaire Retirement Community, her physicians, Howard Manning of Dorcas, and Hospice of Wake County.
