Hattie Mae Shaver Smith was lifted into the arms of her LORD on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 7:36 in the morning at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle, N.C.

 

Mrs. Smith was born on February 15,1912 in Stanly County. She was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Dora Skeen Earnhardt Shaver and was a homemaker.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harvey Lee Smith in 1998. Also four brothers, Odis Alexander, Lester Vernell, Worth McKenzie, and Loy Frank Shaver and a sister Selma Lee Shaver Smith.

 

Surviving Mrs. Smith is a daughter and her husband Elizabeth Gwendolyn and Robert Ward of Aynor, S.C., a granddaughter Jodi Lynn Ward of Aynor, S.C., a grandson and wife Keith Alan and Katharine Hubbard Ward of Raleigh and a beloved great-granddaughter Marian Elizabeth Ward of Raleigh.

 

A celebration of Mrs. Smith’s life will be held at Anderson Grove Baptist Church, Albemarle, N.C. at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 2, 2009, where she was a member. The Rev. Ron Honeycutt will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the hour of the service.   Burial will be in the church cemetery.
