Mr. Gilbert Pickler, age 83, of Morrow Mountain Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Sunday, January 1st, 2012 at his home.  His graveside funeral will be at 11 AM on Thursday, January 5th, 2012 at Stony Hill United Methodist Church's Cemetery.  His family will receive friends from 10 AM to 10:45 AM at Stony Hill United Methodist Church just prior to the service.  Rev. Lanny Lancaster will officiate.

Born December 28th, 1928 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Pickler was the son of the late Cicero Pickler and Jencie Almond Pickler.  He was a 1948 graduate of Albemarle High School and a retired supervisor with Union Underwear.  He was a member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Smith Pickler; one son, Mickey Sherrill Pickler of Tallahassee, FL; one daughter, Tammy Pickler Crump of Locust, NC; one brother, James U. Pickler of Albemarle, NC; two sisters, Judy Caudle of Albemarle, NC and Nellie Tucker and husband LeRoy of Albemarle, NC; one grandchild, Millie Sue Crump; and one great-grandchild, Maddeline Kate Allman.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Pickler Dorsey.
