Ms. Geraldine Helms Efird, age 80, of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Saturday, November 19th, 2011.  Her family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home and her funeral will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Albemarle, NC.  Rev. Roger Thomas and Rev. Lee Church will officiate and burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park.

Born May 17th, 1931 in Stanly County, NC, Ms. Efird was the daughter of the late Lester H. Helms and Mary Hatley Helms.  She retired from First Citizen's Bank.  After retirement, she felt the need to continue working with people, especially cancer patients.  She was the owner and operator of Cameo Cottage in Albemarle, NC and had many friends.  She never met a stranger.

Ms. Efird was a member of First Baptist Church of Albemarle for 8 years where she was active in the Joy Club, and member of the Service Sunday School Class, and a past member of the Senior Choir.

She is survived by one brother, Harold L. Helms and wife Betty of Greensboro, NC; one great-niece, Claire Hobbs of Harpers Ferry, WV; one great-nephew, Adam Hobbs and wife Katie of Charlotte, NC; one aunt, Grace Comer of Albemarle, NC; and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
