Evelyn Rose Williams Allred, 89, of 24391 Rogers Rd., Richfield, NC, passed away at 7:45 AM Thursday, May 7, 2009 at her home.  Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009 at New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.   Rev. David Colson, Rev. Kristy Burnette and Rev. Jim Allred, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born Oct. 31, 1919 in McDowell Co. N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter Hinton and Hettie Burgin Williams.   She was a retired school teacher and was a member of New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.  She was a Quilter, Artist, Gardner and Musician.   She served 25 years in North Carolina Public Schools.   She ministered with her husband through word and song for 43 years in the Unithed Methodist Church.  She was a recipient of the Sally Stoker Award on March 31, 1999.  She was married to the late Rev. James Grant Allred, Sr. who preceded her in death June 19, 2004.  Survivors include three sons, Jim G. Allred, Jr. and wife Judy of Richfield, N.C., John Stanley Allred and wife Maria of Archdale, N.C. and David Phillip Allred and wife Kathy of Monroe, N.C.; three daughters, Annette Allred Steed and husband Roy of Seymour, Tenn., Martha Faye Yokley and husband Ross of Lexington, N.C. and Doris Evelyn Hatley and husband Larry of Albemarle, N.C.; two brothers, Clark Walker of Marion, N.C. and Jimmy Walker of Old Fort, N.C.; two sisters, Virginia Tankersley of Old Fort, N.C. and Dorothy Roberts of Biloxi, Miss.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.  Two brothers, Walter Williams and Hubert Walker, preceded her in death.  The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.  The family wishes to pay tribute to all her wonderful caregivers especially Polly Clark who has spent 18 years with the Allred Family.
