Emma Lujean McLeod Hatley, age 82, passed away on Monday, October 4th, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord, NC. Her graveside service will be at 11 AM on Thursday, October 7th, 2010 at the Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle, NC. Rev. Joe Smith will officiate.

Born June 21st, 1928 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William James and Edna Ora Lee McLeod and was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Co. She also was a former dietary worker with the Lutheran Home in Albemarle, NC and a member of Congregational Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Boyd Claydene Smith; her second husband, Floyd Harwood Hatley; and two sisters, Virginia LaFaye Williams and Louise Geneva. She is survived by three sons: Stephen M. Smith and wife Connie of Albemarle, NC, Bobby D. Smith of Albemarle, NC, and Larry W. Hatley and wife Collette of Albemarle, NC; one sister, Libby Sue Roche' of Norwood, NC; three grandchildren: Michael Tyler Smith, Jessica L. Smith Goodman, and Jacob Alexander Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan H. Smith and Holden T. Smith.
