Mr. Elvin Milton Fisher, Jr., age 76, of Badin, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 8th, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC.  His family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and his funeral will be at 11 AM on Thursday, October 13th, 2011 at Badin United Methodist Church in Badin, NC.  Rev.  Laura Hamrick will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory. 

Born November 29th, 1934 in Burlington, NC, Mr. Fisher was the son of the late Elvin Milton Fisher, Sr. and Vallie Thacker Fisher.  He attended E.M. Holt High School in Burlington, NC, graduated from Pfeiffer University, and was a post-graduate of Appalachian State University and the University of NC at Chapel Hill.  He was a former principal of Badin Elementary School with 30 years of service and coached Badin Little League for 20 years.

He was a member of Badin United Methodist Church where he was a member of the church choir for 40 years and long-standing president of the Badin United Methodist Men.  He was President of the Better Badin for 10 years and one of the founders of the Best of Badin Festival.  He was a 32nd degree Mason, Member of the Yadkin Falls Lodge #637 AF&AM and a member of the Scottish Rites.

Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife of 52 years, Iris Y. Fisher; son, Doug Fisher of Richmond, VA; and two nephews, Gary Estes and Christopher Lafferty of Burlington, NC.
