Dorothy "Dot" Melren Starr Calloway, age 73, of 202 NorthEast Connector, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Thursday, December 15th, 2011 in Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC.  Her family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM on Saturday evening at Stanly Funeral Home and her funeral will be at 2 PM on Sunday, December 18th, 2011 at Faith Freewill Baptist Church in New London, NC.  Rev. Sam Wilson, Rev. Andrew Ball, and Rev. Phillip Martin will officiate and burial will be in the Church Cemetery.  

Born August 12th, 1938 in Guilford County, NC, Ms. Calloway was the daughter of the late Lee and Pearl Jones Starr.  She was a 1956 Graduate of Albemarle High School and was an employee of Medical Pharmacy and Log Cabin Restaurant.  She was also a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Joey Calloway and wife Teresa of New London, NC; two daughters, Tammy Tucker and husband Kenneth of Albemarle, NC and Amy Yow and husband David of Stanfield, NC; two sisters, Jo Hatley of Albemarle, NC and Helen Chandler of Seneca, SC; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Ted Starr, and three sisters: Lib Stoker, Jean Lowder, and Nancy Hathcock.
