Donald Thomas Ritter, Sr., 70, of 1802 Hemlock Drive, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at his home.  His family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5 PM to 7 PM and his funeral will be at 10 AM Monday, January 25th, 2010 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Albemarle, NC.  Father Peter Fitzgibbon will officiate and burial will be in St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Concord, NC with full military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corp.

 

Born November 5th, 1939 in Newark, NJ, Mr. Ritter was the son of the late John T. and Sarah Holt Ritter and was a retired employee of Crook Motor Company.  He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and a veteran of the US Marine Corp, Stanly County Marine Corp. League, and the Knights of Columbus. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Sallie James Ritter; two sons: Donald T. Ritter of Myrtle Beach, SC and Matthew H. Ritter and wife Sarah of Concord, NC; one daughter: Marianne R. Field and husband Christopher of Jacksonville, NC; four brothers: Dennis Ritter of New York, George Ritter of New Jersey, Michael Ritter of Pennsylvania, and Mark Ritter of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren: Molly Field and Hannah Field; and two step-grandsons: Alex Hooper and wife Kristen and Willem Cashman.  One daugher-in-law, Deborah Ritter, preceded him in death.
