Mrs. Desdy Lee Smith Swanner, age 82, of 1401 North 6th Street, Apt. 503D, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Wednesday, July 27th, 2011 at her home.  Her funeral will be at 11 AM on Saturday, July 30th, 2011 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and her family will receive friends from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM just prior to the hour of service.  Rev. Adam Hatley will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory. 

Born September 14th, 1928 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Swanner was the daughter of the late John W. and Florence Haire Smith and was a retired employee of Eckerd Drug.  She was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Arnold Swanner.  She is survived by one son, Robert Donald Swanner of Albemarle, NC; five daughters: Annette Cummons and Rebecca Gardner of Florida and Judy Holt, Joyce Swanner, and Wanda Hilliard of Albemarle, NC; two sisters, Verona Lowder of Albemarle, NC and Elnore Smith of Stone Mountain, GA; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
