Dera Elizabeth Cauble Surratt Efird, age 90, of 24724 US Hwy 52 S., Albemarle, NC, passed away on Friday, April 23rd, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Friday, April 30th, from 6 PM to 8 PM and her graveside funeral will be on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at the Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle, NC at 10 AM. Rev. Mark Weekley will officiate.
Born November 23rd, 1919 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Ida Rebecca Blalock Cauble and was a graduate of Albemarle High School. She was a former telephone operator and member of West Albemarle Baptist Church.
She was married to the late Roland Ward Surratt who preceded her in death in 1949 and Jack Treece Efird who preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by one son, Steve Surratt and wife Suzanne of Albemarle, NC; one step-son, Jack T. Efird and wife Betty of Birmingham, Alabama; one grandchild, Ward Surratt; three step-grandchildren: Treece Efird, Ben Efird, and Susan Efird; one great-grandchild, Drew Surratt; and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Surratt; three sisters: Ethel Grigg, Ophelia Tucker, and Mary Francis Laney; and a number of half-brother and sisters.
