David Cuthbert Orr, 81, of 34447 Tiffany Lane, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Friday, August 7th, 2009 at his home. His family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM and his funeral will be at 2 PM Monday August 10th, 2009 at Stanly Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Stanly Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.
Born July 21, 1928 in Athens, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late James and Hallie Sallie Arnold Orr and was educated at Elmira Free Academy in Elmira, NY. He was a retired contractor and a member of Kendalls Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict and loved the garden, play cards, and do woodworking. He also loved to spend time outdoors with is family. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Deery Orr; a son, David Rodney Orr and wife Laurie of Erin, NY; two daughters: Debora Martelli and husband Michael of New London, NC and Pamela Gray and husband Wayne of Locust, NC; one brother, William Orr of Elmira, NY; seven grandchildren: Christie Johnson, Heidi Hagler, Gregory Orr, Timothy Orr, Zachery Orr, Emily Orr, and Margory Orr; and five great-grandchildren: David “Remi” Johnson, Alycia Hagler, Draken Hagler, Alyvia Johnson, and Riley Johnson.
