Dalton Baine Kirk, age 84, of 1209 Pecan Avenue, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 6th, 2010 at the Levine and Dixon Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.  His funeral will be at 2 PM on Friday, June 11th, 2010 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and his family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM just prior to the hour of the service.  Burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory with full military graveside rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team. 

Born November 19th, 1925 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Horace Bruce and Effie Gaddy Kirk and was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Company.  He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Albemarle, NC and also was a Veteran of the US Marines where he served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre; afterwards receiving the Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Fox Kirk.  He is survived by one son, David L. Kirk of Albemarle, NC; one daughter, Patti Suzanne Kirk Riding and husband David of Alexis, NC; one sister, Ava Marie Kirk Sigmon of Albemarle, NC; three grandchildren: Karen Lynn Kirk Smith of Tahlequah, OK, David Baine Riding of Alexis, NC, and Keith Riding of Alexis, NC; and three great-grandchildren.
