Coney Jay Earnhardt, age 92, of 315 Park Ridge Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 at Britthaven of Wilkesboro in Wilksboro, NC. His funeral will be at 3 PM on Sunday, April 11th, 2010 at Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and the family will receive friends from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM just prior to the hour of the service. Rev. Joe Smith will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park.
Born May 30th, 1917 in Montgomery County, NC, Mr. Earnhardt was the son of the late Julius and Niece Dennis Earnhardt and was a former employee of American & Efird Mill Co., Wiscassett Mill Co., and E.J. Snyder Co. He was a member of Dunn's Grove Baptist Church and a Veteran of WWII serving in the US Marine Occupational Forces in the Pacific Theatre. He was a gardener and golfer. He also loved to watch baseball games and was a Carolina Panther fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Waulina Barbee Earnhardt. He is survived by two sons: Jimmie Darrell Earnhardt of Wilkesboro, NC and Gene Earnhardt of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother: Theodore "Pig" Earnhardt of Albemarle, NC; five grandchildren: Richard Craig Earnhardt, MD of Fredericksburg, VA, Laura Earnhardt Auman of North Wilksboro, NC, Emily Earnhardt Daigrepont of Orlando, FL, Stacy Earnhardt of Winston-Salem, NC, and Kristina Earnhardt of Winston-Salem, NC; and six great-grandchildren.
