Mrs. Claudine Efird Simpson, age 73, of 8938 Plank Road, Norwood, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 1st, 2011 in Carolinas Medical Center.  Her family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home on Tuesday evening and her funeral will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 at Green Memorial United Methodist Church where the body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service.  Rev. Mike Burris and Rev. Ron Dry will officiate and burial will be in Green Memorial UMC Cemetery. 

Born July 23rd, 1938 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late Carl Grant Efird and Annie Julia Surratt Efird and was educated at Aquadale School.  she was an employee of Stanly Knitting Mill and former employee of Knitsters for over 20 years.  She was a member of Green Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir, former Sunday School teacher, member of UMW and a very active member. 

She is survived by her husband for 57 years, Melvin Earl Simpson; one son, Terry Lynn Simpson and wife Pam of Norwood, NC; two brothers, Bill Efird of Albemarle, NC and Jerry Efird of Stanfield, NC; three sisters: Judith Carol Kimrey of Albemarle, NC, Patricia Ann Harris of Albemarle, NC, and Peggy Lavonne Harris of Reidsville, NC; four grandchildren: Jennifer Frashuer and husband Joey, Dustin Simpson and wife Christy, Dana Burrage and husband Charlie, and Kam Edwards; four great-grandchildren: John Frashuer, Jack Frashuer, Mason Burrage, and Brooke Burrage; and one special family friend, Cathy Simpson.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Edward Efird, and one sister, Marlene Harris.
