Mr. Charles Ray Thompson, age 73, of 435 Fairview Street, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 5th, 2012 at his home. His funeral will be at 11 AM on Saturday, January 7th, 2012 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and his family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM just prior to the hour of service. Rev. Wayne Austin will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.

Born September 9th, 1938 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Thompson was the son the late Vergil and Lula Rummage Thompson and a retired employee of Collins & Aikman Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Sides Thompson. He is survived by one son, Arthur L. Morton of Albemarle, NC; three daughters: Lisa Hartsell of Albemarle, NC, Ann Blue of Wagram, NC, and Tammy S. Davis of Savannah, GA; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a special niece - Wanda K. Sides and special friends- Connie Almond, Mike Mixon and Sylvia Eddins.
