Claude Hughes Burris, 91, of 2711 Silvers Lane, Albemarle, passed away on Friday, April 3rd, at Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Monday, April 6th, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the hour of the service. His funeral will be at 1:00 PM at the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Shoffner will officiate.

Born June 19, 1917 in Stanly County, Mr. Burris was the son of the late John and Flora Jane Whitley Burris. He was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Co. and former Big Lots employee. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a Veteran of the US Navy where he served during WWII. He was married to the living Mildred Deese Burris of the home for 72 years. Other survivors include two sons; Tommy Eugene "Gene" Burris and wife Betty of Chase City, VA and Bryce Jennings Burris and wife Brenda of Matthews, NC; one daughter, Sue Burris Benscoter of Albemarle; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
