Byron Frank Morris, 86, of 2203 U.S. 52 North, Albemarle, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center, Albemarle. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, at Prospect Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Stoney Benfield and The Rev. Tim Whittington will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Prospect Baptist Church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the hour of the service.
Born March 11, 1923 in Moore County, he was the son of the late Duma Ray and Mary Fannie Bost Morris and was educated in the Stanly County Schools. He was a retired employee from the City of Albemarle and a former employee of Wiscassett Mills Co. and Two-Way Radio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Mae Mann Morris. He is survived by a son, Ronnie F. Morris and friend, Joyce Knight, of Albemarle; a daughter, Barbara (Bobbie) Wilhelm and husband, Jim, of Albemarle; two brothers, Bruce C. Morris and Donald Morris, both of Albemarle; four grandchildren, Ryan Wilhelm, Erin Bowers and husband Jeremy, Brad Morris and wife Leslie, and Kristi Gurley and husband Jason; and five great-grandchildren.
